W.W. James Park is named for Mr. William Walter James. Mr. James was a local barber who was the lead instrument in bringing Little League baseball to our community. Mr. James and councilman Glenn Young help secure the property we still play on today. The original name of the park on opening day, May 1962, was James-Boshoff Field. ...Then name Boshoff was in honor of W.H. Boshoff, a local military hero and advocate of IRC Little League. Even after he was no longer active with the league, Mr. James frequented the fields to watch games, even in his declining health.
